"A Whisper of Doom"

(Horror story)

The old mansion had been abandoned for decades, its grandeur and beauty slowly being consumed by the passing of time. The once vibrant gardens were overgrown, the sound of crickets and the rustling of leaves the only signs of life.

As I stepped inside, a chill ran down my spine. I had always been drawn to the supernatural, and this mansion was rumored to be one of the most haunted places in the country.

I began to explore, my flashlight casting eerie shadows on the walls. Every step creaked beneath my feet, making me feel like I was being watched.

Suddenly, I heard a faint whisper. It was soft and raspy, and seemed to be coming from all around me.

"Get out while you still can."

I spun around, but there was no one there. The whisper seemed to grow louder, more urgent.

I tried to shake off the feeling of unease, telling myself it was just the wind or my imagination. But as I continued to explore, the whispers grew louder, more menacing.

And then, I saw her. A figure in a long, flowing gown, her face twisted in a grotesque grimace.

I froze, my heart pounding in my chest. The figure began to move towards me, her eyes glowing with an otherworldly light.

I tried to run, but my feet felt heavy, as if they were rooted to the spot.

The figure reached out a bony hand and touched my face. I felt a chill run down my spine, and everything went black.

When I came to, I was lying on the floor, my head throbbing with pain. The mansion was silent, the whispers gone.

But as I stumbled to my feet and made my way back to the entrance, I heard one final whisper.

"You should have listened."

I never went back to that mansion again. But sometimes, in the dead of night, I still hear the whispers. And I know that I'll never be able to escape the horror that lurks within those walls.
